Welcome to the Product People Hiring process!

As a category-defining company in Interim Product Management Services, we view our people as our greatest asset. Our tailored hiring approach ensures we find the best fit for Product People, and we look forward to getting to know you better.

Our Hiring Process

1. Application and CV Review

Our application review has different stages, starting with our Recruitment Team and then moving to our Product Managers. Your answers to the application questions carry more weight in the selection process than your CV experience!

2. Culture Fit Call

This is a conversation to see how well our values, ways of working, and mindset align with yours, and vice versa. It's not a technical interview. It's more about making sure we're a good fit for each other in terms of culture and collaboration. It's also a great chance for you to ask questions about our team and work environment. The sooner you schedule it, the faster you'll move through our hiring process.

3. Product Challenge

You'll receive a take-home task featuring a product challenge about an imaginary product and company. Think of it as your chance to flex your PM muscles! Submit your deliverables in the defined format within 7 days of receiving the task. Your submission will be anonymized and reviewed by three PM Consultants who independently evaluate your skills and seniority to decide if you move to the next step.

4. Live Presentation

Time to shine! You'll present your Product Challenge results to another set of 3 PM Consultants who will evaluate your skills and seniority to decide if you move forward. The call also includes time for you to ask questions about Product People and the specifics of the job, so bring your curiosity.

5. Feedback on Submission

Whether we decide to proceed or not after your case deliverable, we believe in giving constructive feedback. We're happy to share insights on areas for improvement. You'll get an automated link to schedule a feedback call after your Product Challenge or Live Presentation.

6. Reference Checks

You'll be asked to provide two relevant references, and we'll take their feedback into account before making a decision. If we proceed with an offer, we'll finalize your level together. Pro tip: You can speed things up by having your referees schedule a call promptly.

7. Offer Stage!

Congrats! 🎉 You've reached the final stage. You'll have a final call with our CEO to discuss the last details.
✌️ Must Have

What We Expect From You

Every team member of Product People lives and breathes the following characteristics, regardless of role or level.

Extreme Ownership to Help Product People Thrive

Propose and take ownership of initiatives that make us stronger as a team. Help us deliver excellent outcomes for our clients faster, and optimize for long-term profitability and growth.

Solution-Oriented, Win-Win Mindset

Comprehensive understanding of the state of the art web and mobile technologies including working with high-traffic iOS and Android apps.
We have Technical Product Management experience and also worked with highly regulated products (Medtech, FinTech).

Hands-On, Happy to do the Unglamorous Work of a PM

Fix the mess. Just like Marie Kondo, we are not called up when things are going well. It doesn't come naturally for anyone to bring in externals unless they are in great pain. Take setbacks as learning opportunities and recognize the unglamorous work as an important part of the job.

Cognitive Flexibility and Resilience

‍Learn fast and adapt to environmental changes in the PM role. Even with preparation, the job remains unpredictable due to daily surprises and major product-influencing changes. Unexpected test results, team member absence, or new market disruptors require fast adaptation.

“Strong Opinions, Loosely Held” - Marc Andreessen (A16Z)

Stay receptive to new knowledge and different viewpoints. Actively collect and integrate feedback for personal growth and product development, including addressing blind spots. Proactively seek feedback to improve, and handle negative feedback with grace and an open mind.

Excellent Communication

Communicate proactively, openly, and collaboratively with reliability and trustworthiness. Interact with the team, peers, stakeholders, and users in writing or verbally. Communicate effectively by organizing and expressing thoughts clearly, being brief but informative, and reporting problems and successes.
