How Product People Helped Scale Enterprise Access With Reusable Platform Capabilities
About how we enabled a strategic enterprise rollout on schedule by turning an account-specific access provisioning request into configurable platform functionality available to every enterpr

The Client: An Enterprise Brand Management Platform
The client is a fast-growing enterprise SaaS platform for brand management, used by global marketing and brand teams to manage digital assets, brand guidelines, and creative workflows at scale. Headquartered in Switzerland, the client serves thousands of organizations worldwide, with a customer base that includes household names such as a global organization, another global organization, and a third global organization.
With 300+ employees, $80M+ in venture funding (a venture investor, another venture investor), and an estimated $60M+ in annual revenue, the client sits in the upper tier of modern B2B SaaS companies, where speed of execution, product clarity, and cross-team alignment directly impact commercial success.
The client was expanding its enterprise reach during this engagement, creating an opportunity to scale governance, compliance, provisioning, and audit capabilities alongside its largest customers. Their requirements provided a clear commercial foundation for investing in enterprise readiness across the platform.
The Mission: Interim Product Manager, Analytics and Platform Team
The client maintained momentum across Analytics, Actionable Insights and Access Management by having Product People step into an interim Product Manager role to support continuity during a team transition.
The team's mission was to turn brand knowledge and usage data into intelligence that admins and curators can act on. Alongside that strategic mandate, it owned the platform layers underneath:
- Access requests to Resources,
- User & User Group Management
- RBAC Permissions and Error pages.
These platform capabilities supported the client's enterprise growth, with customer requirements informing a meaningful share of each planning cycle.
Product People worked inside the client's trio model with the Engineering Manager and Product Designer, on a six-week planning cycle, reporting into the Group Lead. Day-to-day collaboration spanned Engineering, Design, Customer Success, Security, Legal, Product Marketing, Research, and three sister product teams.
📚 The access request flow is how an admin grants a user access to a resource in the client's platform. A user submits a request, an admin reviews it, and on approval the user is placed into the groups that carry the right permissions.
Our Main Quest: Scaling Enterprise Enablement Through Reusable Platform Capabilities
Launch: Preserved Delivery Momentum Through Rapid Onboarding
Product People accelerated onboarding by building on the planning rhythms and ways of working established during our first client mission. That familiarity allowed us to focus immediately on the new context: a deeply technical platform team supporting many areas of the product.
The team maintained its delivery pace throughout the transition, while Engineering stayed focused on execution. Product People supported that continuity by quickly building context across customer-facing analytics, access requests, permissions, and the user lifecycle, then taking over active workstreams and escalations directly from the departing Product Manager without adding onboarding responsibilities for the Engineering Manager.
Explore and Conquer: Turning Enterprise Requirements Into Shared Customer Value
The client's enterprise relationships created opportunities to deliver value beyond any single account. Product People helped translate that commercial momentum into scalable product investment by assessing each request before development: identify the underlying need, establish which other customers share it, and define a solution that serves them together. That approach shaped all three initiatives below.
Initiative 1: Enabled an Enterprise Rollout With a Reusable Platform Capability
What was happening
A rollout for one of the client's largest enterprise accounts created a timely opportunity to scale access provisioning. With significant annual revenue tied to the rollout and a fixed delivery date, the client had a clear commercial incentive to develop a capability that could support the account's scale and benefit other enterprise customers.
What Product People did
Product People established a broader customer case for the investment through discovery with Customer Success, Support, and Engineering and a review of previously logged requests. Several other enterprise accounts had expressed similar needs, confirming the opportunity to deliver shared value rather than an account-specific solution.
The resulting capability served the requesting account's needs while remaining reusable across the platform. To achieve that, we evaluated several solution directions and selected an approach that avoided customer-specific maintenance and preserved a consistent product experience. The feature shipped as configuration any admin can set up, with the requesting account participating as a beta customer ahead of general release.
Result
The client met the enterprise rollout deadline and released a reusable platform feature. Other enterprise accounts with the same need adopted it quickly, and their follow-on requirements now inform the roadmap for this area.

Initiative 2: Created a Unified Roadmap for Enterprise Permissions
What was happening
Related requests from several enterprise accounts in regulated industries highlighted an opportunity for the client to expand permission granularity. Although the requests arrived through different channels and timelines, they pointed to a shared capability that could strengthen the platform's appeal to enterprise buyers in those sectors.
What Product People did
Product People established a unified direction for these enterprise requirements by assessing them together. This approach prioritized reusable permission capabilities and a consistent role model over separate account-specific implementations.
Leadership gained a consolidated view of the opportunity through a mapping of related requests to shared capability needs. We documented the existing permission model as a baseline and benchmarked role-based access control against enterprise competitors and analyst evaluation criteria, creating an evidence-backed strategic initiative to expand enterprise permission capabilities.
Result
Product Leadership received a single prioritized roadmap for role-based access control, grounded in customer evidence and market benchmarking, to guide scalable investment across enterprise accounts.
Initiative 3: Established an Evidence-Backed Direction for Actionable Analytics
What was happening
The client identified actionable analytics as the team's flagship strategic opportunity for 2026: helping customers translate brand and usage insights into informed action. With the strategic ambition established, the next step was to define the product direction and measures of success.
What Product People did
Product People gave the initiative an evidence-backed foundation by analyzing 3,098 logged customer reporting requests alongside existing user research and behavioral data. Input from Customer Success and Product Managers in adjacent areas, plus benchmarking of how other products connect insight to action, helped identify the most relevant customer opportunities.
Leadership received a 12-opportunity backlog scored across five dimensions, a clear top tier, and a measurement model focused on outcomes within the team's influence. We also presented two viable product directions with explicit trade-offs, giving the accountable leader a clear basis for the decision.
Result
Leadership gained an evidence-backed direction for the team's flagship 2026 initiative, with transparent trade-offs and defined success measures.
Discovery Mini-Missions: Our Side Quests
As Interim Product Managers, Product People supported the brand analytics team with several side quests:
- Result: Strengthened platform-wide identity verification with a manageable rollout
- Simplified the rollout from four segments to a single universal verification gate by analyzing 118,498 unverified accounts. The analysis showed that only around 810 active users would be visibly affected, concentrated in a handful of identifiable accounts.
- Enabled Customer Success to stage the change account by account with a dedicated rollout artifact, supporting customer relationships throughout a platform-wide update.
- Result: Protected billing accuracy ahead of usage-based pricing
- Supported billing readiness by identifying and routing two active-user calculation issues for resolution, and initiated a shared active-user definition to align billing with customer-facing analytics.
Mission Achievements: Delivered Outcomes
