The Client: HeyCar

HeyCar is a digital marketplace for buying and selling used cars. It’s been funded by VW Group and Mercedes-Benz, launched in Germany in 2017 by BCG X, and later expanded to the UK and other countries.

HeyCar distinguishes itself by offering a curated selection of high-quality used cars from trusted dealers. They provide a transparent platform for customers looking to buy pre-owned vehicles online.

The Mission: Interim Product Manager

In the highly competitive digital marketplace for buying and selling used cars, HeyCar faced several challenges in scaling its user base and enhancing the overall user experience.

To address these challenges, our Product People Trio stepped in, to bring our expertise in product growth via various tactics including A/B testing.

Our Main Quest: Growth & Conversion Optimization

Explore and Conquer: Solved for the Client

We began our mission by conducting a thorough analysis of HeyCar’s user behavior, identifying pain points and drop-off points in the user journey. We also conducted customer development interviews and user surveys. We also learned from the previously documented growth-hacking attempts.

We developed a prioritized list of hypotheses to test and an A/B testing strategy. Over 3 months, we ran 10 A/B tests to optimize lead quality and conversion rate. We closely monitored the performance of each variation, measuring metrics such as click-through rates, conversion rates, and user feedback, and also adjusted our tests based on interim results.

The detailed results are under NDA.

For Clients: When to Hire Us

You can hire us as an Interim/Freelance Product Manager or Product Owner

It takes, on average, three to nine months to find the right Product Manager to hire as a full-time employee. In the meantime, someone needs to fill in the void: drive cross-functional initiatives, decide what is worth building, and help the development team deliver the best outcomes.
If you're looking for a great Product Manager / Product Owner to join your team ASAP, Product People is a good plug-and-play solution to bridge the gap.
